LRT in Other Cities

In the GTHA, and particularly in Toronto, many people can only relate rapid transit to the subway system. Understanding what LRT is or could be is difficult at best, and the presence of a streetcar system in Toronto makes it more so. Streetcar operation is a small aspect of what Light Rail Transit can be, not unlike the way a glass of milk is one way to consume dairy products.

The best way to learn what LRT can be is to look at what is being done in other cities. This is not to say that 100% of what is being done in another city translates to Toronto or even the rest of the GTHA, but certain aspects of other systems can be utilized here.
